| CFCA Practitioner Resource and Webinar Invitation |
|
Refugee and newly arrived migrant youth can face additional complexities when negotiating adolescence, compared to their Australian-born peers. This resource explores issues that may affect the development of culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) adolescents, such as settlement and migration, separation from family, torture and trauma, and health and wellbeing. It includes links to reports, practice guides and other literature to support practitioners and service providers working with this population of young people and their families.
This resource is part of a series of CFCA resources on working with culturally and linguistically diverse adolescents.
These resources are being released as part of National Youth Week 2015, an Australian, State, Territory and Local Government Initiative. |

Date: Wednesday 13 May 2015, 1.30pm - 2.30pm AEST. Find your time zone. Presenters: Nadine Liddy and Heather Stewart
This webinar will explore good practice when working with young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds, using the Multicultural Youth Advocacy Network's soon-to-be released national Youth Settlement Framework (YSF).
The YSF is Australia's first national framework for understanding and responding to the needs of young people in the settlement context. It will support a national approach to good practice in youth settlement, with the aim that all young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds receive the support they need to become active participants in Australian society.
Good practice with this group of young people and their families is often complex and dynamic, and the webinar will provide an opportunity to explore this complexity in detail. The Multicultural Youth Advocacy Network (MYAN)
The Multicultural Youth Advocacy Network (Australia), MYAN, is the national policy and advocacy body on multicultural youth issues. Auspiced by the Centre for Multicultural Youth in Victoria, the MYAN works with young people, government and the non-government sectors to promote the unique needs and issues for young people from refugee and migrant backgrounds.
