National Youth Week Forum - Young People Needed!
The NSW Office of Communities is currently seeking nominations from young people for the CONNECTING CULTURE AND COMMUNITY – NATIONAL YOUTH WEEK IN NSW FORUM.
Youth Week in NSW works closely with Government agencies to raise issues of importance to young people, and provide information and support to address these issues.
This year, Youth Week in NSW is partnering with Multicultural NSW to focus on strategies to address and overcome the barriers to community engagement and participation encountered by young people generally, and by young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds in particular.
The Connecting Culture and Community - It Starts With Us! Forum is an opportunity for young people to network with a range of policy makers and service providers, and to participate in activities, discussions and workshops that build their knowledge, skills and confidence to meaningfully participate in their communities.
NOMINATIONS CLOSE MONDAY 9 MARCH 2015.
Places at the Connecting Culture and Community - It Starts With Us! Forum are limited. Successful and unsuccessful applicants will be advised via email by Friday 13 March 2015.
The NSW Department of Education and Communities will coordinate and meet the costs of travel arrangements for young people who live outside the greater Sydney metropolitan area.

Condom Credit Card – free condoms for Young People in your area
The Condom Credit Card Project is a friendly, confidential way for young people to get free condoms. Family Planning NSW are inviting you to become a partner in this highly successful project. At no cost to you they will train staff in your organisation to implement the CCC at your service. This includes learning how to engage young people when talking about reproductive and sexual health, conduct a condom demonstration and provide information about sexually transmissible infections and contraception. All training and ongoing condoms are provided for free.
So what’s in it for you?
* The CCC will provide an additional recognised service that your organisation can provide to its young people.
* The CCC allows for condoms to be given out in a structured, uniformed way.
* The CCC builds the capacity of young people and provides them with basic sexual health education that may otherwise be missed.
* The CCC utilises the existing relationship workers have with young people, meaning discussing condom use and sexual health may not be as daunting as doing so with a less familiar adult.
* The CCC training will build the capacity of workers and increases their confidence in discussing reproductive and sexual health topics with young people.
* Your service will become part of a network of CCC providers enabling ongoing support and information sharing.
* Your services contact details will be placed on the Family Planning NSW website, increasing the service wider promotion to young people.
To register your interest in becoming a Condom Credit Card provider or to ask any questions visit www.fpnsw.org.au/ccc or contact Ben Davis at Family Planning NSW at be...@fpnsw.org.au or call 02 4749 0515.
