I don't think there is any way to set a single task to recur twice in a
month.
A simple solution would be to create two separate tasks, one recurring
monthly on day 10 of every month and one recurring monthly on day 25 of
every month.
Another option is to create a task that recurs monthly on day 25 of every
month. (In the advanced options, make sure to set "Reset all subtasks to
uncompleted" and "Disable automatic recurrence. I think these are the
default settings.)
Create a subtask under that monthly task. Set the due date of the subtask
to day 10 of next month, with no recurrence.
The subtask will be available due on the 10th. When you complete that task,
then the parent task will become available due on the 25th.
When the parent task is completed, it will reset to the 25th of next month,
and the subtask will reset to the 10th day of next month.

I started with MLO coming from Toodledo iOS synced from Windows desktop
Outlook with gSyncit for over 10 years. I'm a retired construction company
founder having made a niche with CPM scheduling when the competition had no
idea. So given those two factors, getting my head around MLO is no simple
task.
My initial question- I've finally got reasonably OK views setup but after
now seeing the offered templates I'd love to try one or two but not wipe
out my current. Is that a reasonable ask?

It's taken a lot of guess work, interpreting docs and misses to get to
where I am currently-- trying to align as best as possible my main views
between the two platforms. The one obvious fail- the iOS shows completed
whereas the Win view I largely use does not. I tried not showing completed
in iOS but that messed up the view more. Is there a config file I can post
for each so you all can spot where I'm going wrong?
The basis for both views (hopefully) are all not completed tasks sorted by
due date and similar but due within 7 days.
