A different take on "nice views" — an advanced viewer my AI builds in minutes

Hi all — I've been following the many recent threads on creating nicer views in MLO, and I finally thought I'd just chime in and share something that's been working really well for me.

First, to be clear: I'm a big MLO fan and I'm staying one — this isn't about replacing anything. MLO is and remains my single source of truth.

Alongside MLO's built-in filters and views, though, I've started doing something a bit different. I export my MLO data (the XML export) and hand it to my AI assistant — I call her Sage — then just describe the view I want in plain English: "group everything by my life areas, colour-code each one by status, and float the critical and overdue tasks to the top."

The surprising part: within minutes she builds me a completely individual little app that acts as an advanced viewer on top of my MLO data — showing my tasks exactly the way I think about them, not the way a filter dialog forces me to. No coding on my side, no template wrestling; if I want a column moved, a new grouping, or a weekly summary, I just say so and she rebuilds it.

So MLO stays the system of record, and the AI gives me bespoke views on top that would take ages to hand-craft. Happy to answer questions if anyone's curious about the setup. 😊

Sounds interesting.... Can you share your AI Assistant setup? Which system are you using (private on prep personal machine / cloud model etc...)

i am currently working with claude code.
Thats all in terms of setup.

Although i am working on building a personal assistant with a memory system and all such things - but related to the chess thing it is only claude code basically.
Fun fact - since fable is out opus 4.8 with high effort has become kind of cheap - and opus 4.8 is genius already.

Q: just out of curiousity would anyone be interested in a viewer app - cloud based obviousy - based on a subscription? ;)

to add - the app is obviously local on my machine. But putting it anywhere is just .... saying to claude where to put it and wait a few minutes... done ;)
