Hey everyone,

does anyone know why I get the error:

[Window Title]
Warning

[Content]
File is readonly or locked by another user: Cannot open file "s:\test.ml". Der Prozess kann nicht auf die Datei zugreifen, da sie von einem anderen Prozess verwendet wird

Translation: The process cannot access the file because it is used by another process.

[Cancel] [Retry]

Whenever I try to open an mlo:// link like mlo://s:\test.ml?{0DC92C2E-9F1B-480C-B990-E35F38B1342B} from different applications. Let's say I open MLO via a Link in MSWord, then MS Word is able to jump to MLO constantly, but if I use a link in some other application (even win+r "run") then I get the error and vice-versa (when I open MLO via win+r, then MS Word throws those errors)

Is there a solution to it?

I have the same problem, how can I open the task from another app?

solved: just close the open instance ol MLO and then click the link again. It will open MLO again (strangely the top of the MLO windows not displays the full path to the .ml file) and from now on all the links will open with no error

Hello,
For me it is not working at all.
My link is as this (copy as URL): mlo:C:\Users\franc\Documents\JAmain.ml?{7E6BC1B8-6FB5-40E0-BE38-C4810568E386}
When I click on the link from Joplin I got the following message from WINDOWS :
Get an app to open this 'mlo' link.
Your PC doesn't have an app that can open this link. Try looking for a compatible app in the Microsoft Store
I have of course MLO installed (not by Microsoft Store but when I look at the MLO in Microsoft Store it's marked as "installed").
I have also restarted PC.

Any idea ?
Thank you in advance.

Hi  Gerard Goddard:

Could you explain again how you solve with step by step instructions?  I could not comprehend your existing explanation.  Thanks.

Hi,
I have resolved this as follows: in Tools/Options/Behaviour = tick the  "Associate with *.ml files"
The format that is working for me (in Joplin, markdown) is : [link's name](mlo:C:\Users\user1\Documents\myMLOfile.ml?{A1G26D66-C586-4058-9418-4D0CB4FB51D2})

To  dziki:

Thanks for your reply, I will try.  I cannot tick the option so far as shown as attached, and I am not sure why.

Hello,
Restart your MLO as an admin and it should work.
Once associate dine you can use MLO as usual.

To  dziki:

Hey thanks, that really help, now it works.
But,  how did you get to there? I mean, I couldn't see any instruction or whatsoever linking to this solution.

Regards,
