Apple announces in June that macOS next version Catalina will allow iOS apps to support Mac, which brings me to the attention. MyLifeOrganized on Mac is actually one of the biggest current blockage of using Mac and MLO. Is there any plan to provide Mac version directly ported from iOS? Seems much more feasible now.

We are now analyzing this new opportunity to run MLO for iPad on Mac. It's still quite challenging, so no decision has been reached yet. We will let you know once there are any updates if you subscribed to our newsletter.

Thank you! I am interested to learn what is particularly challenging for porting the iPad version with Project Catalyst? I have friend in Apple working on related projects and for what I know they are looking for early feedback from developers who have difficulty porting the apps. Maybe I can help pass along the  word?

another heartfelt PLUS ONE. I would be very very VERY grateful if MLO became available on the macOS platform!

I gave up on MLO a couple of years ago because after the praised possible Mac OS version, that never happened. I’m surprised to see that the official website is still collecting email addressed to notify people if the Mac OS version is ever released... amazing how finally Apple will bridge the gap instead of being MLO who does...

The missed opportunity here by the MLO team is massive. I have been a huge fan of MLO but I’m 100% Mac-based and finally stopped using it in Crossover, Parallels, etc.  On Mac OS, iOS, and iPad OS, the task management leaders are OmniFocus and Things 3. If MLO were to make a Mac version and make some minor fixes to the iOS/iPad OS version (make the UI keyboard-driven please like OmniFocus and Things - power users need this)... again, if it were to come out with a solid Mac version, coupled with the iOS/iPad OS versions it would clean up in this space. And Mac users would open up their wallets in droves. The amount of money left on the table by MLO is shocking. And I keep coming back, hoping I’ll see an update on a Mac OS version for this wonderful - as I haven’t heard anything about a Mac OS version in years.

I am sick of waiting MLO for MacOS. On their offsite they still collect users emails who want to wait mlo for macOS. They have been doing it for several years.

People refer to them as the "MLO team" but I get the impression that there are only two people involved - Andrey and Alyona. If I'm wrong on that then by all means correct me but I think because of this, I don't think they'll be able to add a Mac version with his business model. He would have to hire developers and probably go to a subscription model to bring in the kind of revenue to do that.

There are definitely more than two of them. Andrey hired people specifically to develop the Android and iOS versions. I guess that developing a Mac version might involve another key hire, so Andrey needs to work out whether there will be enough demand to be able to recover his employee costs. That might be a difficult call, when Mac (as on other platforms) is already saturated with tools like OmniFocus and Things3. I think that there are other benefits to producing a Mac version - for example, the Apple Store might be more likely to spotlight and promote the iOS version of MLO if it's part of an integrated suite across all their computing products.

and one year has gone by and still MLO team is "considering developing" a Mac OS version... I guess I will need to stick with my current ToDo tool for Mac OS :(

Considering the iPad app runs on an M1 Mac, it should now be pretty straightforward to update the UI for Mac. I really don't understand the reason why there is still not a Mac version. Andrey, do you hate money? :)

I would add that wine/crossover do not work well with MLO. They work, but not well. For example, when editing a task title, inline, the full task title is not visible. For some reason, A task title of "Hello This is A Task Title" ends up becomeing "ello This is" when editing. It's just a weird text-box/display issue, you can cursor left to the front of the line to see "Hello..." and cursor right to get to the end of the full title. But this causes a very annoying break in what should be a smooth workflow in an otherwise awesome task manager. This is one example of this type of display issue with the emulation. MLO on native Windows is flawless - but quite flawed on Wine/Crossover emulation to the point where I had to walk away from using it on MacOS.

I will add that I use MLO on a Mac with the iPad app. It's ok. However it can't be automated and there is no support for things like shortcuts. I hope Andrey does bring it over using the Catalyst approach. I'm not sure if I will still be a user by the time that happens.

(I only use MLO for my personal tasks, my work is run via a Storymap and Kanban board, since my operations team isn't on MLO).

Cheers
Mark

I can report that MLO does work flawlessly under Parallels Desktop in a Windows box on iMac (or mini or macbook, as for that matter).

Yes, MLO works flawlessly under on  any Mac in a Virtual Windows box, using Parallel Desktop. I have been running it for a couple or years. My Mac is currently running the latest OS: Big Sur. Parallels Desktop is expensive. You get a lot of features with it, but I would prefer to give that subscription money to the MLO team instead if they ever come up with a Mac version or if the iPad version would run in Mac OS.
