My laptop just died on me and have now set up a new one (with MLO, of course).

Unfortunately, the way in which MLO handles column widths on the tabs seems to have changed.  With the new installation,  when I switch to a tab,  it tries to fit all the columns in the view into the available screen width which means that I end up with a very narrow column for the task titles (which is the one that shrinks if there is not enough space).

And even if I widen this column (so that the right most columns disappear to the right and a scroll bar appears),   when I switch away from that tab and switch back ,  it has reverted to trying to fit all the columns into the screen width.

Very annoying and I can't remember/work out how to change it so that once you have set the column widths,  it remembers them.

Hi, Richard. I'm not sure where column widths are stored. But you are right that if the sum total of all defined column widths donot fit into the available Window, MLO will try to shrink the caption to make it all fit. There are two ways to defeat this and make your caption retain its width: (1) delete some columns (2) shrink some other columns.

The column auto resizing switch is in the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MyLifeOrganized.net\MyLife\Settings\ColumnAutoResizing

My guess to turn this off would be set the key value to zero. The usual health warning applies; don't mess with the registry if you don't know what you're doing.

Hi Richard,

See if this helps.

The Auto Column width setting is at the bottom of the column choices list.

Right click on the column headers, you see the choices of columns to display - look at the very bottom of the list for Auto Resizing - checkmark means activated. Uncheck it to turn off Auto Resizing.

See attached picture.

Help?
