PPC Crash

My Pocket PC crashed recently and I am currently rebuilding it after
doing a hard-reset.

I am wondering if it is connected to MLO Mobile Sync Manager, because
it froze in the middle of synchronization, and I found that precisely
three files were missing from the folder on my desktop PC which
ActiveSync maintains as a mirror of the PocketPC My Documents folder.
These three were the only MLO data files on the Pocket PC. It could be
coincidence but has anyone else noticed similar behavior during
synchronization affecting only MLO files?

I have rebuilt my Pocket PC data files by setting up new file mappings
to the Desktop PC files which were still intact (as opposed to the
missing ActiveSync-related files), so all is now OK.

Also in view of the apparent difficulty in restoring to Windows Mobile
5, can anyone recommend the best software for backing up my PPC system
to SD card as I will need to take evasive measures in future. I
envisage it running daily in the early hours . . .

TIA

Hi Fortunus,

The MLO data files (*.mlp) are not sync'ed by Microsoft ActiveSync
File Synchronization provider on purpose so that the file level sync
would not interfere with the MLO sync engine that uses record-level
sync as opposed to file-level.

Cheers,
Oleg

I understand and prefer the record-level synchronization that MLO
provides. It is just that the MLO data files disappeared from my
desktop PC at thr time the pocket PC crashed, so I was concerned there
may be some connection between the MLO synchronization process and the
crash.
