Pursuant to Governor Healey’s March 28, 2025, signing of Chapter 2 of the Acts of 2025 extending certain COVID-19 measures adopted during the State of Emergency suspending certain provisions of the Open Meeting Law, G.L. c. 30A, § 20 until June 30, 2027, this meeting of the Chatham Historical Commission is being conducted in person and via remote participation.

•Chatham Preservation Awards Update – Final approval of award recipients was March 12, 2026
•Status of Current Demolition Delays:
-45 Crows Pond Road expires May 6, 2026
-127 Stage Harbor Road expires October 7, 2026
•Return of Chatham’s Historic, US Coast Guard Boat House, for the “Adaptive Reuse”, as the “Shellfish Upweller”, at 90 Bridge Street. Initial efforts proceeding on site preparation, dredging/bulkhead completed. Review of the updated Form B, for possible submission to MHC for “Eligibility as a National Register Structure’, after Boat House returned to Chatham (Returning to Stage Harbor 90 Bridge St, for restoration in mid-March. Dedication/opening spring 2027)
Issues on hold:
•Demolition by Neglect, concerns and possible actions to address the issue.
•Protection of resources in archeologically sensitive areas. Consider adoption of a formal archaeological review process. Recommendations from Updated Town Wide Archeological Survey, possible coordination with Conservation Commission.
•Monomoy Theatre Property - 776 Main St, Concepts/Restoration for Washington /Taylor House & Theatre, Final design.
•Development of Preservation Plan.
•Preliminary review for possible update/expansion of Marconi-RCA National Register District as a result of the updated Archeological Reconnaissance Survey from March 2009.
