The criminal-politician nexus
In 2002-03, the then Maharashtra Chief Minister Sudhakarrao made a statement that the state leader of Indian National Congress party and erstwhile Chief Minister Sharad Pawar, had asked him to "go easy on Pappu Kalani", a well known criminal-turned-politician now.[7] Shiv Sena Chief, Bal Thackerey, had later concurred with these allegations[8]. Further, Sudhakarrao also alleged that it was possible that Kalani and Hitendra Thakur, another criminal-turned-politician from Virar, had been given tickets to contest election for Maharashtra State Legislature at the behest of Sharad Pawar who also put in a word for Naik with the police when the latter was arrested for his role in post-Babri Masjid Demolition riots in Mumbai.[9]
[edit] Allegations of corruption
The BJP asked for Pawar's resignation after alleging he was involved in a multi-crore scam involving wheat imports. In May 2007 a tender floated by the Food Corporation of India for procurement of wheat was cancelled when the lowest bid received was for 263 USD/ton. The government subsequently allowed private traders to purchase wheat directly from farmers that year resulting in a paucity of wheat to stock FCI granaries. By July 2007 the shortage at FCI was large enough to require import of wheat at a much higher price of 320-360 USD/ton. Taking advantage of this, traders who had domestically purchased wheat at 900 INR/ton earlier, were now offering the same to FCI at 1,300 INR/ton.[10][11]
On October 27, 2007, the Bombay High Court served notices to institutions headed by Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar and Sadanand Sule (Sharad Pawar's son-in-law) along with a corresponding notice served to the Maharashtra Krishna Valley Development Corporation (MKVDC) on why special privileges were given to Pawar and his family. This was done in consideration of a Public Interest Litigation No. 148 of 2006, filed by Shamsunder Potare alleging that the land said allocations in Pune, made in 2002, were illegal. The institutions and properties mentioned include:
- Two 141.15-acre (0.5712 km2) plots given allotted to Vidya Pratishthan, an educational society headed by Sharad Pawar
- A 2-acre (8,100 m2) plot allotted to Anant Smriti Pratishthan, headed by Ajit Pawar, the Maharashtra state minister for irrigation and Sharad Pawar's nephew
- A 130,000 square metre (32.12 acre) plot allotted to Lavasa Corporation, owned by Sadanand Sule, Sharad Pawar's son-in-law at the time. He handed over his stake in 2006
- A 1-acre (4,000 m2) plot allotted to Shivajinagar Agriculture College
- A 3-acre (12,000 m2) plot allotted to Sharadchandraji Scout and Guide Training Institute
These allocations were made allegedly under NCP leader and minister Ramraje Naik Nimbalkar who was in charge of MKVDC at the time.[12][13] Saharad Pawar was served a contempt of court notice on May 1, 2008 in connection with this case for issuing statements to the press even though the matter was subjudice at the time, that was later rejected by the court. Also in connection with the case, the respondents were directed not to create third-party interests in the property under dispute and to undertake any developments at their own risk.[14][15]
While Pawar had declared that he is no richer than 3.6 crore rupees, the recent IPL Pune team bidding has revealed his 16% stake in City finance. IPL Pune team is supposedly worth 1200 crore rupees. Likewise, his 0.05% stake in Royal Challengers Bangalore team is alone worth 6 crores. The Pawars had consistently denied any IPL stake, but have now had to declare it publicly.
Pawar is also listed on the No Criminals website as an incriminated offender of the Religion Institution Act 1988 (Prevention of Misuse).[16]
As agriculture minister Mr.Pawar is responsible for manipulating the Raw cotton exporting policy to get undue favour of increased cotton prices. The Result is lakhs of Apparel manufacturing workers allover India,lost out their jobs as the Apparel Exporters were left with high cotton prices to loose in the global competition & common people have to pay 60% more than what they used to pay a year before in 2010 for cotton made apparels.Despite several strikes announced by Apparel Export Promotion Council,the bandits are still defiant of justifying the export of Raw Material(RAW COTTON) at the cost of domestic industries which exports finished products which gets more foreign exchange,jobs and tax revenues for the government.The cotton yarn prices were Rs.145/kg in june 2009 and now in Dec 2010 its is 265/kg and still rising. Most talked of farmers are not benefitted by the increased Raw Cotton prices as the Raw cotton Exports are controlled by a handfull of power brokers like Hon. Min Sharad Pawar
When i went pune 6 month before, he told me that in every project in mumbai and pune, sharad pawar has 15% stake. that time I din't believe but now it is proved. He is a man behind food inflation. Due to him, many people died hungrily. Still he is agree culture minister. No can save us now.

the most corrupt people of the country remain respected figures till
exposed. At a time when corruption is at its peak and human
development as its lowest, do you think it could have possibly
happened if the person in-charge was a respectable and honest man??
Sonia Gandhi may be the major influence by it, but what we see are the
policies of government which are disgraceful to say the least.
Policies which kill thousands of people everyday. in a country like
India it was never possible that thousands of people died of hunger
everyday unless government had such policy. a party which says its
slogan is "gareebi hataao" actually follows "gareeb hataao"
Even most of the corporate biggies are seen as pretty respectable
people...Dhirubai Ambani is seen as a hero etc etc...in a country that
runs on corruption and injustice, a person will make billions only if
he had led to exploitation, death and destruction of thousands and
thousands of people. Read "polyster prince" by a foreign author, which
was banned in India because it speaks truth about Dhirubaai. any way
Ambanis are not issue, with the revelations in recent times, you can
be sure that ALL corporate biggies (absolutely no exception) are
corrupt and disgraceful.
See how our minds have been corrupted, even the biggest of these
Industries employ a few thousand people and the people dying at the
hands of their exploitation and inhuman practices are much much more
than that

being talented doenst mean he is non-corrupt.
As per reputation, the reputation , comes from money he has paid to
media. He pays big bucks to mediamen and so they say that MMS is man
on high integrity. He paper-tiger just like Mahatma Gandhi. British
needed an icon to ensure youth doesnt follow Bhagat Singh or Udham
Singh , and so British funded Gandhiji. Same way, Corporates needs a
PM who has image of honest man, and so they pay media to sign songs of
MMS.
MMS wants nobel prise. So he needs to spend Rs 40000 cr to Rs 50000 cr
for planting stories in international media to create a jolly good
image of him. And he needs to pay huge amounts to lobbies which
control nobel price judges. So he is asks Kalamdi , Raja etc to cater
companies which will collect money and then pass it on to these
lobbies.
