President officer: Sister Safiya Ravat (Bayyinah student, Former Houston chronicle reporter)

Meeting notes:

-> Zaki Edhi started the meeting with Quran recitation.

-> Sister Safiya spoke about the meeting theme (Kindness, Charitable).

-> We were able to give opportunity to more than 4 youth to present projects.

-> MashaAllah they are only in project # 2 but the confidence level has gone up. In the last session they were able to speak for about 1 minute and this time many of the youth were bold and spoke for about 2 to 3 minutes.

-> There was impromptu question and youth were asked to use word of the day (Benevolent : meaning Kind, Charitable). Question of the day was : One action which they did that was very satisfactory / made them happy?

-> I will repeat the feedback given last time. A request to parents is to give your kids books, or get them some material on a topic and ask them to prepare from that book or material. They want to speak but they don't have material to speak for 3 minutes or more. We need them to be bold to speak for about 3 to 5 minutes on a topic. Topic can be Islamic like life of Sahaba R.A. etc.. or any other topic.

-> All the kids are very smart MashaAllah. We just need to help them with right tools. So parents provide them your inputs and lets bring their hidden skills out in public.

Meeting notes:

   -> Akeaf Syed 9th grade youth started with recitation.

   -> Imam Zia gave a brief Qatera for 5 to 10 mins on the topic Honesty and Sincerity followed by Q & A.

   -> Four youth presented their first project. (Takbeer)

  -> Each of them were given feedback by assigned My-Lead co-ordinators.

 -> Youth were asked to write 3 sentences using word of the day (Honesty) for an impromptu question. And question of the day was " If you get an extra burito when ordering at your local shop what would you do?

 -> Youth were given an overview of project # 2 and were asked to come prepared to present in next My-Lead session.

 -> The only feedback to parents will be "MashaAllah youth has done a good job in coming prepared for Project # 1 but they spoke for only 1 to 2 minutes. Please help them by providing material for a topic and ask them to prepare a speech that can be done in 3 to 5 minutes." They need to speak for more time not just one or two minutes.

-> Those who did not get a chance to speak or present project # 1. InshaAllah we will increase time of our meeting sessions so that we can listen to maximum of the youth.
