LAX SECURITY ENDANGERS LAKHS: Balasaheb
Borkar, 50, a resident of Vashi, Navi Mumbai, exposed the lax security
at CST on Monday. He travelled by train to the station with his
licensed .32 revolver. ''I went in and came out through the metal
detectors placed at different exit and entry points. Not once did the
police personnel question
me. Then I went up to the cops and asked why they were unable to detect
my weapon. I was shocked when they said they did not the hear the beeps
of the metal detector,'' Borkar told TOI. Borkar, who claims to be a
friend of former deputy CM R R Patil, said he was shocked the police
had not learnt any lessons
after the recent terror attacks. Incidentally, reports indicate that
the terrorists had planned to strike CST around 7.30 pm — peak hour —
on Wednesday night, which would have resulted in many more casualties.
However, their landing on Indian soil was delayed, probably saving many
lives.
