For the guys who were discussing keyboards over pizza last night:

Programmer Dvorak

Colemak (supposedly easier to learn if you already know QWERTY)
http://colemak.com/

Did you have a Maltron, or Kinesis keyboard? (Or something else?)

I'd love to try one of these if they ever got into manufacture:

Peace and chocolate.

I quite like the idea of the Optimus Maximus

except that I think it would be better and much much cheaper to have a single
display behind all the transparent keys, not 113 little displays.

I have a Maltron (http://www.maltron.com/). The science behind this
stuff still seems a bit lacking unfortunately. The Maltron keyboard
is very expensive, but I knew someone who was happy with it, and I was
getting a little desperate (my wrists were killing me!). As we
discussed, the optimal keyboard layout for a programmer is probably a
bit different given the number of symbols we tend to use, and the
ctrl/alt/shift key short cuts of our IDE's.

In the end, I found what makes the most difference is the angles of
all my joints (wrists, elbows, and shoulders). I actually like
keyboard trays that I can adjust so that they are very low (resting on
my thighs). As an alternative, I sit my keyboard and mouse on a thin
plank that I rest on my thighs... exactly one of the things that the
experts say that I should not do!

Cheers,
David
