Hello,

I just got the domain renewal for the MWVLUG.org domain.

I just want to check to see if there is any activity with MWV LUG type things that would suggest that it be renewed.

Is there any interest on the MWVLUG side of things?

I don't really spend any time in Corvallis anymore, so there isn't any from me.

It appears to be completely deceased, I can't think of a reason to
maintain it.

John,

I didn't realize we still had this domain.
I thought we lost it years ago.

The Corvallis group seems to be pretty much dead.
I'm not sure if the domain is worth keeping or not; but Linux Fund
would be willing to pay to keep it a couple more years - just in case.

David,
I think we are still a little bit alive, but not too active since we
gave up our space at the Chamber. I would vote to keep the mailing
list around. John bought back the domain name a few years ago when it
was released by the former owner. It might be nice to keep it another
year or so more, as you say - just in case.

I would like to continue the group. I always learn something at a meeting.

However I know that it does cost to maintain a domain name.

It costs about $10/year for the domain.

But the key ingredient is for someone to start organizing the meetings. The group is still around, from time to time things happen on it. Like the BLUG people send notes about Linux Fest.

I am happy to hand it off if someone wants it. It is going to expire shortly. Where do we want to transfer it to?

Having Linux user group meetings can easily happen at a coffee shop in the beginning.

So the barrier to getting going again is just someone to beat the drum...

John and all,

Linux Fund is willing to take over the domain and pay for it for a
couple years or so.

And then we should see about having some get togethers - maybe just
something social like lunch at Old World Deli or something, at least
until someone offers to get speakers.

Thanks David,

I appreciate it.

I will work with you offline to do the transfer unless I hear from someone else wanting more direct  engagement.
