Updates on Altcity

So, some updates on AltCity.

Alcity "Coordinators"

Last Sunday, we were very lucky to have two extra volunteers interested in helping Seereen and I out with the organizing of the classes.

Kareem Slim

Lama Assi

Kareem was helping Seereen out when Roula left from what I understood, and now that he is back from his vacation, he is happy to help! Lama Assi happened to not really have a class to teach so we ended up all sitting together and helping each other out. 

This will help me be more of a support for Altcity English and French classes and build a rotation between the volunteers who are doing the administrative stuff on Sundays. This should also be great so that not all of us need to be there every Sunday and give each other a break.

AUB Civic Community Engagement Info Session Idea

One of the volunteers, Marwa Kouki, recently had this idea of having an info session with the Civic Engagement Center at AUB and is happy to help set it up. She will be looking into it this week and report back on its progress. Let me know if you have any comments on this! It will basically be a basic info session where I, and anyone else in our group might be interested, will talk about MWTF. As you know, if its only me, I will probably just talk about the language classes mainly but it also depends on what our own progress is with other ideas.

Curriculum Development/Books

I visited the British Council yesterday and ended up getting 4 boxes of books, including cassette tapes!!!! This I believe needs a meeting with those who might be interested to sift through the books and look into what is useful and what isn't. We might also like to find a way to get the cassette tapes into a C.D. because those are some OUTDATED stuff!!! lol

That is it so far! Everything else is still pending so will save you guys from over-load of information...
