The National Mental Health Program (NMHP) at the Ministry of Public Health would like to invite you to a half-day discussion aiming at informing the National Mental Health Strategy for 2015-2020.

 

Since it was launched in May 2014, the NMHP, supported by WHO, UNICEF and IMC, has been working on developing a National Strategy that would guide the Ministry for the coming 5 years.

 

The draft document has been reviewed by local and international experts and is currently under revision and will be presented during this meeting. A specific section of the strategy targets specific vulnerable groups that might need specific strategic objectives. These groups are:

 

Group 1

• SGBV

• LGBT

• Domestic Workers

   

Group 2

• Elderly

• Palliative Care

• People with disabilities

 

Group 3

• Prisoners

• Survivors of torture

• Families of Missing Persons

 

Group 4

• Palestinian, Syrian & Iraqi Refugees

 

You are invited as experts in one or more of the above groups to support the program in identifying the strategic objectives related to these groups during a half-day workshop on Friday, March 27, at Holiday Inn Dunes, Verdun, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

The day will start by a brief overview of the strategy and will proceed with group discussions for which we will split into four groups as described above.

 

We would like you to nominate one person from your organization to participate in this workshop in the group that corresponds most to the expertise of your organization.

 

We really hope you will be able to take part in this activity despite the short notice.

I definitely can't make it.

I know a volunteer, her name is Marwa Kouki who has been showing interest in being more involved, I tried to get her started first with the classes as we were planning a meeting and as we as coordinators were clearer on our paths but with volunteering classes she has not been very focused and rarely attending or at least informing us that she would not be able to attend. I am not sure if its because she has less interest in giving classes than doing other things. She is the one who tried to organize the MEPI info session for us and I am awaiting their confirmation that Thursday is a good day for them to have the info session. Maybe we will see her there if its confirmed.

Maybe she is someone we can nominate, if Rahel can't make it.
