strategy for accepting batch list of externally identified documents

Hi,

I would like to be able to persuade the collector to accept a list of selected documents coming as a batch (rather than selected one at time in MW) from an external clustering/id service, then render them as a whole just as if the user had selected them in a CollectionSession.  

a) is anyone else working on any pieces of this?

b) what would be a good strategy for developing the appropriate modifications myself?
