The first two files describe patterns of idioms that were formed by PSM (phono-semantic matching).

The following factors explain much of the "inflexibility" of these idioms.
(1) Synonyms of the words in these idioms do not have the same phonetics as the sound-alike source of the idiom.
(2) The parts of speech in these idioms may not match those in their sound-alike source. 
(3) The word divisions in these idioms may not match those in their sound-alike source.
