Subject: SolidWorks API Training Class

Dear SolidWorks user,

I am excited to inform you on that April 6-8 in Cincinnati an API
training class will be offered for the first time by 3DVision. I know
that many of you have expressed interest in the API and perhaps have
worked with Jeff or me on an API-related project or tech support
issue. Unfortunately time constraints prevent us from helping you as
much as we’d like, so we’re hoping that through this class we might
equip you with the tools to take advantage of the immensely useful
SolidWorks API on your own. For the non-programmer, the API may seem
intimidating. This class will work from the ground up, beginning with
basic macro-recording tips and then explaining how to write custom
code for design automation or other time-saving functionality.
Eventually we’ll look at user interface customization and take a peek
into creating add-ins within the .NET language family. Familiarity
with Visual Basic is useful but not necessary.

I want to emphasize that this is a rare opportunity. Outside of this
class, formal SolidWorks API training is non-existent (save perhaps a
few SolidWorks World sessions). Many of you are familiar with the
grind of searching/asking in forums for other people’s code to copy
and paste, only in the end to have code that you don’t really
understand. On the other hand, perhaps you are keenly aware of a
macro that could be written to save you time but simply can’t write it
on your own or don’t know how to modify an existing one to fit your
needs. This class will set you on the path of creating what you need
when you need it for you and your co-workers. With a basic
programming knowledge you’ll better understand SolidWorks “under the
hood” and give yourself a technical edge over other CAD professionals.

The class will be taught by Jeff Sweeney, 3DVision’s data specialist,
who brings to you several years of custom API programming experience.
I will sit in on the class and will assist during the exercises. You
will receive an API training manual which will be a valuable reference
long after the class is over.

of taking this class or what the class will cover, feel free to ask
me. For pricing please contact Kim Foster at kfo...@3dvision.com.
