Twitter sounds good. As for me, I'm already following several frameworks via Twitter and it seems to be a good practice.
Btw, it would be great to use doodle for voting on motto or logo and share the link to the poll via mail list and twitter. At least it works great for our parties planning :)

There aren't quite *that* many messages! :-) It's hard to miss
anything with (currently) just a few emails per day.

If you *also* use Twitter, then that would be fine. But I do hope that
the mailing list remains the primary means of communication.
For those who prefers email, there are bridges like tweetymail so that you don't have to post twice.
