Happy Holidays everyone!
I would like to be the first to inform you that Miami Valley Hospital is planning on presenting a day-long event to promote and educate clinicians, students, athletes, potential athletes, and anyone who wants to learn more about adapted sports and recreation in the Dayton area! This event is scheduled for April 17th, 2010 and will be held at a facility in Centerville, OH.
Many more details will be forthcoming, but we are currently looking for individuals or groups to share their knowledge about adapted sports or recreation. Specifically, you would have the opportunity to share your own experience(s) to help educate others. This could be a means by which you might entice others to become more participatory! So if you want to help us reach out and encourage others to get more active or learn about opportunities to enhance your adapted sports or recreation group, please reply to me at mpsuth...@mvh.org.
Lastly, I am always available to answer questions you might have regarding this event. Feel free to contact me by e-mail or phone.
Thanks and I look forward to seeing you in April!

Mike:
Interesting you mention that. MVADA had a meeting yesterday with the special ed coordinator, the parent mentor and the APE teacher from Centerville Schools, along with directors from Centerville Parks and Recreation, and The Centerville Washington Park District. Centerville is going to be a base for MVADA. We are going to partner up on some upcoming events.
I noticed you mentioned it's going to be at a facility in Centerville. If you don't have a spot let me know, and I can help secure one for you. Would it be possible for MVADA to be a co sponsor for this event? We have a lot of contacts in the area we could pull in.
I haven't advertised this yet but the leadership team of MVADA is having a meeting with local APE teachers, parks and recreation directors, PT's, OT's and others that would have an interest in adapted recreation. Except for our leadership team you're the first to know, so you will be getting another email from MVADA shortly with all the details. The more collaboration, the more successful we can be.
I'd still like to invite you and your staff to come play wheelchair basketball against our kids. We're off until January, but give me a Wednesday your group can come our and we'll make it happen. You can go to our website for details and directions. We're close to getting a junior wheelchair basketball team that will compete in the NWBA in 2010-11.
