I've got a D3 9.1 Windows box that seems to be "losing track" of available PIBS.

When one attempts to connect via Telnet, the following message is seen:

Trying 10.52.0.20...
Connected to sparta
Escape character is '^]'.
No available PIBS.Connection closed by foreign host.

Looking at the system, there might only be 25 of 46 licensed users logged on, so it's not a license issue.  The VME itself is configured for 60 pibs with16 phantoms.

Doing WHERE and LISTU also only shows logged on users never exceeding the number of licenses.

This seems to happen every few days.  Sometimes it "clears up" and sometimes it requires restarting the D3 VME Service.  It seems like D3 is not flagging pibs as available immediately once a user logs off, but that's just a guess.

Anyone run into this before and have a solution?  It's the first time I've seen it.

Hi Kevin,

Not sure about Windows, but for Linux...

"where (az" is your friend:
+ shows used licenses
= shows phantom licenses

Also make sure:
"dcd-on" enabled in login proc
"trap dcd exit" enabled in user-coldstart

Everything looks ok there.  Ports that have logged off and disconnected have the expected status:  WRAPUPX_DISC_RSTART:000

Ln   PCB      PIB  ABS   Stat R1 & Return stack contents
     FID      Stat Base

0018 00000092 7F90 000018 WRAPUPX_DISC_RSTART:000
0019 00000093 7B90 000018 WRAPUPX_DISC_RSTART:000
0020 00000094 7B90 000018 WRAPUPX_DISC_RSTART:000

These don't apply to D3 Windows.  dcd is always on.

The system was restarted, so I never got the opportunity to check WHERE (AZ) while they were having the problem, but I will next time. Thanks for the reminder.

Just to follow-up on this one.

This appears to be a confirmed problem with D3 9.1 for Windows. TigerLogic has provided us with a patched VME.exe, which we are currently testing.
