Hello.

I have been a developer for Epicor's DataFlo product since 1993, and would like to master PICK/BASIC. Although DataFlo runs on Rocket's U2 solutions, UniData and UniVerse, much of DataFlo coding is heavily supported by API's provided by Epicor, wIntegrate and other 3rd party vendors such as AdvancedWare, Kore Technologies, etc.

Certainly, I can apply my many years of experience in manufacturing operations once I feel confident that I can "hit the ground running" without any middleware or other 4th G/L to do most of the work for me.

I am searching for a comprehensive course on PICK/BASIC or UniBasic, preferably instructor led, but on-line would suffice. Books are great for reference, but a course with some tough assignments would be just what the doctor ordered.

Obviously, if anyone is aware of any openings for developers, programmer/analysts or database administrators which require expertise in DataFlo (full/part/contract), I would be extremely interested as unemployment does not suit me well.

Lastly, I do have a copy of UniVerse installed on my laptop, and believe that I can use this while training.

Kind Regards,

Tony Gardner

Hi Tony,

There are a number of resources you can use to learn MV Basic. Firstly, there is the Programmers Guide to Pick/BASIC published by Jon Sisk. It is available for download at http://jes.com/pb/index.html

Secondly, I have written a couple of books for OpenQM (very similar to UniVerse) that are available from www.rushflat.co.nz

Finally, look through PickWiki (www.pickwiki.com). This has a section of code snippets that you may find useful.

Cheers,

We should not allow Linkdin references and such on this forum because it can only be viewed by joining so it could be a scam.

Really? It might also be part of the cyborg facebook conspiracy, but it looks to me like Tony's just trying to do a little networking and get some information from the secret society of Pick cognoscenti. Oh wait, we're a secret society so we can't let anyone in. Sorry Tony.
