So, I decided to check out what's going on with DesignBais and made a stop at their website (designbais.com).  It seems that release 6 is now available and that their website has been updated since I last looked at it.

The new website showcasing version 6 looks pretty nice, but one cannot help but imagine that business must be a little slow because there is absolutely no contact information whatsoever anywhere on the website.

How is anyone, especially potential customers, supposed to make even the simplest of inquires?

Hi,

I also visited the page recently and the product looks amazing BUT...
I also could not find the contact detail
Where are they hiding it?

Cheers

Here’s an email address you can use to get  more information – in...@designbais.com

Thanks for the link, but where does that appear on their site?  I can find it nowhere.

I did happen to find their support address (support at designbais dot com) within the installation instructions for the web component of the "test drive".

FWIW, Rick W. from DesignBais contacted me and said he would mention the lack of a formal "Contact" page to his people that maintain the site.

When advertising a product I would reckon the most important part would be you contact details?
Needless to say I lost interest and gave up
In the modern world this is considered a "lost sale"

Jan,

Sorry that you had such a hard time with this as it was an oversight and will be corrected.

If you are still interested then we can setup a time for a web demo at your convenience.

(ahh, a little weekend fun)

Oh get real. If that’s the kind of thing that a prospect is going to be blame for a lost sale, then that “prospect” would never have made a purchase anyway no matter what the circumstances. And if someone is that silly that they can’t figure out something like this, then the cost to support such a customer would turn out to be a net loss anyway. Better to have them fail the “I can’t find the contact” link test first than to waste a lot of time with them.  We all know people like this, kicking our tires until we get tired the pain and expense. Let um go kick someone else’s tires until they’re ready to make a real purchase. Or let um drive a competitor broke by encouraging them to make a purchase elsewhere, where they will become a permanent Support expense. Hey, maybe this is DBI’s new pre-sales / anti-time-waster partner-pre-certification strategy? Heck, I like that idea and might just remove a few contact links from my site too! J

C’mon, let’s put this into perspective.

You’re on the designbais.com website. What’s the most common address for Sales? Sales@ perhaps?

And given that this company/product has been a stable part of this community for something like 6 years now, the most casual query on any forum will return a link to the company or one of the employees.

Yeah, they should have had a link. Now they know. Zzzzzzzz…

Next!

Fun?  That's a pretty pi**y attitude for any vendor.  "I'm so important that if you can't figure out for yourself how to contact me, you must be too ignorant/needy/incompetent or stupid for me to even want you as a customer."

C'mon. Do I really need to break it down why people would be interested in contact details presented on the company website?

Maybe I want to have some idea where the company is located.  Is it the USA, Australia, China?
Maybe I don't want to do business with certain countries.
Maybe I want to phone them.
Maybe I want to have an idea what time zone they're in.
Perhaps I don't feel like guessing/spamming e-mail addresses: info@, information@, presales@, sales@, support@, service@, help@, helpdesk@, quotes@.
Maybe I'm a new guy and don't know that vendor reps frequent this newsgroup.
Maybe I have competitive/business reasons for not wanting the group membership and general public to know that I'm interested in a particular vendor.

As someone that constantly laments poor marketing from MV vendors and the lack of "new blood" in this community, you sure have an odd attitude towards how to improve both of those problems.

I think the point is designbais would only “market” inside the MV marketplace – someone outside would first have to get MV before designbais  - if you are in the mv marketplace and you don’t know by now who or where desigbais are then it is a very quick look at some forums to see whats going on.   Yes the lack of a contact us was a mistake – I am sure it will be fixed – but if that’s a lost sale then it would have been a bad sale.

Hi Kevin,

I could not say it better than your post.
You reflected my very thoughts
Designbais is *not* the only game in town but the demo that I saw was impressive enough for me to investigate again
If Kevin did not raise this DesignBais would not have know that they are losing "sales"
If we do not wish to see it as "lost sales" then consider that it is at least a "lost lead" for a possible sale.
Serious enough in this economic climate

I was hoping to call direct and will check the Website again (later) to see if contact details are now available.
I prefer speaking to people on the phone if possible
We are in New Zealand and it would appear that Designbais "might be" closer than I thought?
But then again, I would never know unless I see some contact detail and company information.
Looking forward to the new improved website :-)

My last tongue-in-cheek comment:

"Most companies put their contact details up and then add the website"

Cheers

You're right,  I'm moving on too,  but I think it's a little late to take the moral high ground *after* lambasting and deriding Jan.

All,

Sorry this took so long and for any inconvenience this may have caused, but there is now a link on the Support page next to the "Proceed" button that gives some info on how to contact DB.  We will have a Contact Page soon.

Thanks for the update.

Please let us know when the Contact page is up.
Still need to see the address and phone details...
These pages were created using Designbais?
I trust it is not a reflection on how difficult it is to make changes :-) (The last char in this line is a smiley)

Cheers
Jan
