(I'm cross posting this to the OpenQM, MVDBMS, and ScarletDME lists to
get more eyeballs...)

I want to get some community input on this before I pull the trigger.

I want to take the existing "master" branch and move it to a
"32BitLegacy" branch, and then promote the current "dev" branch to
master (and then creating a new "dev" branch for ongoing development).

My reasoning is that the master branch should be for the most current
release version of ScarletDME, and currently it's a huge hill to climb
just to get it to compile, let alone run.  (due entirely to the required
32 bit environment support)  It's also dramatically behind in tweaks and
fixes that I don't think are worth the resources to apply to a code base
that isn't realistically usable in a "modern" environment.

Thanks folks!

Apart from thinking that a better name would be master32 (for anybody
who wants to work on it), I'd say it's a good idea.

Cheers,

I am all for it sir Gene.
It'd be great to convert it over to a 64bit version to work with 64bit Linux.
I am currently using a 32bit openQM commercial version because the Coyote HTTP web server 'listener' is written in 32bit. Can't seem to get Doug Dimitru to bring it forward into the 64bit world.
Don't know if I can be of help, but I am certainly open to learning.
I've got 46 years of PICK 'business' programming experience, but not so much on the 'inside' of the world.
I know Donald Montaine did a 64bit spawn from ScarletDME and referred to it as the 'StringDB'.
He removed a bunch of legacy stuff, etc. Last time I saw anything from him was around March of this year.
respectfully,

CDMI
