OpenQM / Windows v4.0-9

We have encrypted a number of files. We can grant access to those encrypted files by using the GRANT.KEY command - but this only seems to work for USERS - if we specify a GROUP, then users that belong to that group cannot access the file.

The documentation isn't clear on what type of GROUP is being specified - whether this is a Windows group, or a QM group (as defined in ADMIN.USER). We have tried both types of group and still get the same result.

Has anyone else used this feature, and have you been able to define group access for an encrypted file?

Thanks,

Brian

Hi Brian,
I found some information in the OpenQM reference manual at "3.17 Data Encryption" and it says about User Groups (not Windows).

Best regards,

Thanks, Bo.
I missed that one ... Pity they don't repeat that information under the GRANT.KEY heading. (And it is a pity that Windows can't do basic things like this).
Cheers,
Brian

If my memory is right, the encryption system does not support user groups on Windows. I do not have access to the source code and hence cannot verify this.
