Q: What URLs should I add to this list that would be useful to a person working with MultiValue, whether on the business or the technical side of the house (or both)?

I'm going to be introducing a business colleague to MultiValue tomorrow, so a quick turnaround on this would be great (but I can revise later too). He is not a developer, but he has some technical chops.

I thought I would give him a list of where he might find answers to questions or be able to pass along notices of new videos or other information. I don't have a full answer to my own question. Please help me get this list in good order.

1. Email groups. mvd...@googlegroups.com
               jb...@googlegroups.com
               ope...@googlegroups.com
               sbsol...@googlegroups.com

Are there others that are related to one of the MV databases that are in production and distributed today?

2. nntp, network news: comp.databases.pick (cdp), consider it deprecated. You can see the spam here https://groups.google.com/g/comp.databases.pick. Occasionally a google search will find an answer in the archives of this list.

3. Twitter/X. If you put #MultiValue on a tweet at twitter.com, it might be seen by, oh, maybe 20 people. Those in the people recruitment industry are most likely to post there, although other third parties have done so too. I have seen very few exchanges on twitter.

4. Slack. I have two slack logins, and I have neglected the one where I'm connected to these for a while. Can anyone pass along the names of these slack channels? Are they active these days?

5. Linkedin. the PICK Users Group has > 3,000 members. There is one named U2UG that is used less frequently with ~1,800 members. Others are smaller or more specific.

6. Rocket-specific information. Youtube https://www.youtube.com/@Rocketsoftware-rs

7. Newsletters. In addition to Rocket, some vendors send out newsletters. Recruiters, Modernizers, BI and other Tool Developers, etc. I do not have a list of these, but I try to subscribe when I notice them. Ashwood has a newsletter, for example, /www.ashwoodcomputer.com as does

8. Websites. There is the one Jay is working on https://www.multivalue-world.com/. There is https://www.multivaluecentral.co/. Another development group is rdminfinity.com. There are others that appear more specifically to be related to individual consultants, such as Jon's jes.com and Brian's brianleach.co.uk. There are pages on Rocket's site. Are there other websites that are not pitching a horizontal industry product and are a good landing spot for MultiValue folks? I see that s7.com is gone. [Hey, remember that MultiValue Ring on the web?] That reminds me, I have a website that I hand-coded in html in 2004 (20 years ago!) so it needs a refresh, but there are some resources on tincat-group.com too, such as the Family Tree posters. What others? Can we make a list?

9. FaceBook group: Pick Programmers.

10. Magazines: DBTA dbta.com has a MultiValue section and 5-minute briefing.

What other URLs might be considered web-based resources or MultiValue social media? I haven't had a chance to look at BlueSky and I touched Threads once and walked away. I don't know if anyone has started anything on those. When google attempted this type of social media (can't even recall the name!) there was a group for MV there. Are there maybe some substacks or other blogs out there? Kevin King had one for a while. Tony did longer ago. I had one fifteen years ago (Is Codd Dead? blog entires are still on Tincat Group's website).

What am I missing?   --Dawn

You could add https://www.paradigm-systems.us/

There are a lot of link on the Multivalue.world site under “Resources > Links” This list is growing fast as well.

Excellent. Thanks Jay.

Are there any of the links I put in this post that you want to add to that? I can just use multivalue.world then as a hub for the links.

By the way, I think it would be better to point to this for the Family Tree http://www.tincat-group.com/mv/familytree.html. It shows the most recent and points to the older ones.

Rocket has not requested an updated version, but things have changed since the last one, obviously.

I might be missing it, but where do you see this group, the LinkedIn groups, the Facebook group, maybe Twitter, etc on your site?  —Dawn

Ah, yes, good. I don't see Elkie's prospectus anywhere, and it seems it would be in the same list as Ace Tech, so maybe add that one there (or maybe you have it somewhere else).  --Dawn

Yes, Prospectus.co.uk is there under “Resources > Links” click “Staffing” and it shows as “Prospectius IT Recruitment”

ScarletDME?

Okay, if he's not technically minded he might not want to play with it,
but he might.

It's a shame the OpenQM website has disappeared - subsumed into the
Rocket borg. It had some nice well-written resources on it - Martin's
"What is MultiValue?" was a corker. I wish I still had a copy.

I tried to find it on Wayback, but without much success.

Cheers,
Wol

Likewise, the KnowledgeBase on the OpenQM/Ladybridge site was really useful.

At least Rocket have kept the old forums on the asent.com site available.

Perhaps Zumasys has a copy of the site before the Rocket "Borg" Assimilation.

I'm happy to setup an archive section on the MultiValue.World site for anything MultiValue related.

I am not sure which web site item you are referencing. There was a description of multivalue as a web page and a video.

I have attached a PDF version of the web page. The video was recorded by Zumasys who might still have it.

Martin,

Are you the author if this document? If so may I post this to the MultiValue.World Library?
