The Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan

is Now Available to View in Advance of

May 26 City Council Meeting

The final designed draft of the Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan is now available for public viewing ahead of City Council consideration for adoption.

Since the March 17, 2026 Parks and Recreation Commission (PRC) meeting, when the PRC recommended that the City Council adopt the Plan, staff have continued refining the document to incorporate additional feedback from the PRC and community members. The Plan has also advanced to its final designed format, including graphics, visual enhancements, and improved readability.

Visit ImagineMVParks.com to:

  • Read the Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan
  • Review feedback summaries from the November 2025 PRC Meeting, the January 2026 City Council Study Session, and the March 2026 PRC Meeting

Key updates include defining underserved Planning Areas, prioritizing the expansion of parks and open spaces in those areas, prioritizing locally native species for trees and landscaping in parks and open spaces, and identifying incremental, near-term opportunities to expand native planting and tree canopy.

The Parks and Recreation Strategic Plan will be presented to the City Council for consideration of adoption on:

City Council Meeting

📅 Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. (or as soon thereafter as the matter can be heard)

📍 Council Chambers, 500 Castro Street, Mountain View, CA 94041

💻 Virtual participation information and the meeting agenda will be available at least 72 hours in advance at https://mountainview.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx

Thank you to everyone who participated throughout the planning process and helped shape the future of parks and recreation in Mountain View. Community input has played an important role in the development and refinement of the Plan.

Kristine adds "I actually had meant to close the March input form. Since this plan is advancing for City Council consideration, we advise that all public comments on this item be submitted through the usual channels for Council meetings."
