Re: 4.7 Live Nation Rent Modification Due to COVID-19

Dear Mayor Abe-Koga and City Council members:

The Mountain View Coalition for Sustainable Planning (MVCSP) appreciates the opportunity to provide comments on a Live Nation rent modification due to COVID-19, which you will be discussing at your meeting tonight.

We have reviewed the agenda item materials, and we have the following comments we would like to share with you.

While we understand that COVID impacts are posing real challenges to Live Nation, any accommodations on the part of the City should include consideration for accommodations to Mountain View in return. The obvious and most-needed action would be for them to allow more safe parking spaces in their jurisdiction during times when Shoreline Amphitheatre events are not taking place. This could be implemented, for example, by using Lot C and/or expanding use of Lot B.

As Move MV has pointed out, and as a point of reference, approximately 70 safe parking spaces are currently available for oversized vehicles, and the last City count estimates there is a need for approximately 200 total. This results in our having vehicle residents on safe parking waiting lists, which should be considered unacceptable (not to mention that safe parking itself is a stopgap measure to help address homelessness).

Thank you again for the opportunity to comment.

Sincerely,

Bruce England
