Hi Steven,

By way of this email, I’d like to introduce Peter Drekmeier to you (cc’d here). He’s a Palo Alto Councilmember and Bay Area Program Director for the Tuolumne River Trust.

He’s interested in speaking with you regarding your MV water recommendations, and he has highlighted at least one suggestion below. Since I know you’re finalizing your report tonight, at least preliminarily, I wanted to forward you his suggestion right away.

Feel free to connect with Peter directly if you’d like.

Thanks

Steve

Hi Steve,

I could meet on Wednesday, 9/3 anytime after 4pm and into the evening.  The evening of 9/4 would also work.

I think they should recommend that MV join the California Urban Water Conservation Council (CUWCC) and sign their memorandum of understanding and commit to their best management practices.

Thanks.

-Peter

Hi Peter,

Another thought re: meeting w/the Water group…and before I email them. Since their work is nearly complete…and since I’m not sure when you’ll be back from vacation…I’m wondering if it would be better for you and I to meet only, or maybe all of us. Can you tell me approx when is the earliest you’d be available to meet, so I can determine whether it makes any sense to involve the Water group? (They’re drafting final recommendations literally right now, and in a few weeks the task force will be over.)

If you could meet with them before 9/8 that would be ideal, but not sure logistically that will work.

Steve

Hi Peter,

Hope you’re enjoying your vacation!!  J

Re: meeting w/the Water committee, probably the best thing is for me to introduce you to the chair/committee and let you work with them directly. I’ll send an email.

Re: the 9/9 event, let me check with the Task Force chair to see if he’s open to this. He originally asked that events not get posted to the task force (since there are zillions of them all the time), but I’ll see what he says.

Stay tuned…

Steve

Hi Steve,

Thanks for getting back to me, and my apologies for the long lag time.  I'm on vacation in a remote part of Michigan with limited access to email.

We have our City Council meetings on Monday nights, so I wouldn't be available on either of the dates you mentioned.  Perhaps I could meet with the water task force and share some suggestions on what Mountain View might pursue.

Also, I'll be giving a presentation on the Tuolumne River to TASC in Mountain View on Sep. 9 at noon, and it would be great if I could send an invitation to the MV task force.  Do you think this would be appropriate?  If I drafted something, would you send it along?

Thanks.

Hi Peter,

Sorry for the delay...was out of the office on Friday/Sat attending Built It Green training.

Re: talking to the task force, we only have 2 meetings left, on 9/8 and 9/15 at 6:30pm. Let me check with the Chair to see if he'd be open to this. In order to do so, how long would you need for your preso?

If for whatever reason this doesn't work out, I could probably forward any info you email me to the TF, and also put you in touch with the leader of the "Water" working group.

Cheers,

Steve

P.S. Just fyi, for work-related emails like this, you're better off using my work address: steve.a...@mountainview.gov. And...please use the work address only for work stuff. Anything personal should go to this comcast account. Thanks!

Hi Steve,

Good seeing you the other day.

Do you think it would be possible for me to arrange a presentation on the Tuolumne River and water conservation to the MV Sustainability Committee?

Thanks.

Hello all,

As the Author of a couple of recommendations and an active participant of the water group, I am interested in Peter's recommendation. In our PP presentation of June 23 we quoted Peter's work from his ad on the Mercury about Tuolumne River and water conservation.  Marn Yee, whom I worked close with learned about Peter's work early on.  You can find his ad. in our Google group.

I will be happy to attend a meeting with the group and Peter before my trip to Yellow Stone between Sep. 4th and 11th.  My commitment with this projects continues to be solid.  Please let me know.

Thank you Peter.  Your support for a Sust. Mtn. View means a lot.  I hope you had a great vacation!

Thank you all for the hard and great work on this project.

I hope to, but having trouble placing it in the current recommendations without burying it.  I also need to research his organization to better make the case for joining, but not sure I will have time.

Thanks for responding to Peter, Steve.

Out of curiosity, are you going to add a recommendation (or augment an existing one) for MV to join the CUWCC, etc? It seems like an easy thing to do that will help us raise the bar. (I hope you do!)

Hello Peter,

Thank you for your suggestion.  I would be happy to meet the evening of Sept 4 to discuss the water working group proposals and the CUWCC in more detail.  I work in Palo Alto and can meet there that afternoon or evening.  I have cc's Marn-Yee, co-chair of the group in the event that she will be able to attend as well.
