Hello all:
Attachment of interest re zero waste goals described in our task
force working group contributions! I imagine that Lori could have some
feedback for us (either through this thread, Green Mountain View, or
both) after the TAC meeting, especially where there is direct impact
on how the City of Mountain View responds or reacts.
Bye for now!
Bruce

Subject: ZW info for TAC meeting
Clif ? we would like to
provide this information to the full TAC. The committee recommends
that TAC ask RWRC to:
1.
Adopt the Vision and Guidelines
2.
Send to the Board of Supervisors and Cities for adoption and recommend
that the County and each City develop a Zero Waste Action Plan
(ZWAP).
3.
Request that TAC gather examples of good policies and best practices
for distribution to the cities.
We are hoping that everyone
will think about this ? especially the list of potential policies and
actions ? and that we might expand this during the TAC meeting to
include some other ideas, as well.
Committee Members:
Richard Gertman, Jill Boone, Julie Muir, Lori Topley, Skip Lacaze, Rob
D?Arcy, Elizabeth Constantino, Cheri Donnelly, Karen Gissibl; input
from Mark Bowers, Tony Eulo.
Here is the process we
identified:
Time Line and
Implementation Plan to get the ZW policy and action plan out to the
cities and adopted.
1. Take to TAC in
November for discussion (this document)
2. Finalize
recommendation to RWRC and take to TAC in December for
okay
a. Get okay from
chair of RWRC to distribute info to other
commissioners.
b. Ask chair to add
personal request for them to review.
c. Write memo to
RWRC with draft and request for comments, for chair to send
out.
3. To RWRC (Feb) ?
recommend that BOS and Councils will adopt a ZW
policy.
a. Create Team
Presentation
b. Write Staff report ?
recognize cities that have done something already.
c. Craft Resolution
for them to recommend.
i. Cities can use the
resolution as a model.
4. Send recommendation to
BOS and to cities to adopt it. (March)
a. Cover Letter
from chair ? Zero Waste Vision and Plan reviewed by RWRC and they
recommend adoption or use of this as a model for adoption. Encourage
all cities to adopt it as a countywide effort by specific date. Offer
presentations to city councils.
b. Ask her if chair would
like to take this to cities assn. and or request a
presentation.
