Hello all:
See below for feedback from the state on this topic. I'd like to follow-up with Assyperson Fong and Senator Eshoo, but I'm interested in knowing if any of you would care to join forces on this front.
Bye for now!
Bruce

As was correctly noted, the code does not address vehicles that run on alternative fuels or electric vehicles. The Division does not have the authority to alter the provisions of this code. However, if you wish to have this law amended to include these types of vehicles, please contact your State legislator and have them propose a change to the existing code requirement.

Bruce,
Since James Kempf now possesses an electric vehicle maybe he would join you.  I don't think he's on the transportation google groups list.

Thanks, Shirley. James is, however, on the dlist, though I'm not 100% sure he's still reading the postings.

On another note, I understand that I was appointed as the "alternate" to the BPAC, which is probably not the best news in terms of our pushing ahead with our walkability recommendations. I don't know who, other than the two presumed reappointments, was newly appointed, but only one other person of nine interviewed expressed a strong interest in focussing on walkability. More to come on this, I'm sure.

Bye for now!
Bruce

Bruce, all,

I'm still on the list.

I'm not sure I understand the point of your query. Do you want these services also provided at electric charging points for electric vehicles?

Back in the 90's, Sun set up two electric charging points for EV1s. If such a law were in effect, it would require employeers to put in water, air for tires, winshield washing, etc., which I think would probably cause employeers to not provide electrical outlets. Since electric cars typically have much limited range, this would tend to hinder the use of electric cars. So I don't see the point of amending the law in this way (if that is, in fact, what you meant).

PS: This doesn't apply to my plug-in Prius, since it will switch over to hybrid mode when the Hymotion battery runs out.

Thanks, James. This actullly refers to gas stations that have the air compressors available. Personally, I'd like to see a requirement for *all* gas stations to have air compressors available to customers as a condition for their business licences, but I don't suppose that's very likely to happen.
Cheers!
