Dear City staff,
Thank you for the opportunity to speak on future housing in Mountain
View. Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend the Aug. 20th session. Here
are two points that I hope will be considered in the session and eventually by City Council.
First, let's pave the way for higher density, mixed use development that
offers people the opportunity to walk to shops, to work, to school, and
to restaurants from home. All over the US, these types of developments
are very much in demand. Mountain View is so walkable, with smooth
terrain and pleasant weather. Putting housing and associated services
together will truly enhance the liveability of our city.
Next, consider Bayshore business parks and the Moffett/Middlefield/Whisman
neighborhoods. How can we control and reduce the traffic around offices
in North Bayshore? Can we connect the residential Whisman Station neighborhood with it's light rail stops to the goods and services residents need for day to day living - supermarkets, restaurants, recreational areas and an easy commute option? Bayshore is missing the residential units and the public transportation while Whisman is missing recreational areas and jobs that are in abundance in North Bayshore. Can we create a happy medium?
Thanks for your consideration of these suggestions.
Best regards,
Elizabeth Mezias
