Hello land use folks:
I'm going to try to start a neighborhood association encompassing
Whisman Station communities (with Middlefield, Ferguson, Whisman, and
Central as the boundaries). Besides gaining our community potentially
more political clout with the City, I'd like to see if we can
accomplish some or all of the following:
- Generally, making changes to the infrastructure to move us toward
being a "healthy village," as envisioned in your part of the task
force report. (and would you mind if I use that part of your draft
report to share with my community?)
- Making any necessary changes to the "shopping center" at North
Whisman and Middlefield, so that it better provides essential services
to residents and workers in the area.
- Getting a bike/pedestrian path built to connect Whisman Station with
Grant Road/El Camino (as proposed in
http://sustainablemountainview.pbwiki.com/f/WhismanStationToGrantRdElCaminoPath.doc).
(Note that this could also help to connect "Grand Boulevard" transit
users with businesses north of Whisman Road at Central Expressway)
- Using some of the land for a new community garden.
- Working with the Wagon Wheel and North Whisman neighborhood
associations toward common goals.
I'm very interested in knowing your thoughts and suggestions that
would help me get the NA off the ground successfully. If this works
out, you could see some of your recommendations realized outside of
actions the City might take in response to the task force report.
Thanks!
Bruce E
