The Energy WG report identified natural gas as likely the largest contributor to GHG emissions going forward, due to the renewable energy mandate for electricity that PG&E is required to fufill. Here's what other countries are doing to increase the renewable content of their gas supply:

In addition to the potential of home made gas and locally installed
PV, linear Fresnel is something we should keep a close watch on.
Moving our transportation fuel from oil to electricity will require
lots of clean, reliable and inexhaustible electricity. Some form of
large scale solar thermal generation looks like the most logical
option to accomplish this essential task.
