Hello:
Among other things discussed at the editorial committee meeting the other night was whether to have back matter included in the final report. I was outvoted with the decision made to have no back matter, including appendix files that some of us were hoping for or depending on for use to keep the report body size down. I asked what should groups do with files that were planned to be appendixes, and I was told that folks should provide links to them in some online location. I have no problem with that, except that we don't have an official home for these files (note that Google Groups and Docs are not at all ideal for public access, and they were intended for our work processes specifically). As I've mentions already, I'd like to see the wiki site used for our public outreach presence, especially after our final report work is completed (which is the approach Palo Alto decided on for the CEAP). If we can get an approval from the steering committee that the wiki will be carried forward and supported ongoing, and that it would be the appropriate place for "appendix files," then we have a solution. So, to accomplish this, one or more steering committee members need to champion the cause, and the sooner the better. If we know that we can count on this platform for referencing to, then writers and groups can proceed to post files and link to them from within the report proper. Your thoughts and comments, please.
Thanks!
