Subject: ESTF: RESPONSE NEEDED ASAP! - Good News!! - General Plan Climate Change Consultants Want to Meet with Working Groups
Hello Steering Committee Members,
I had a meeting last week with the Planning dept. and the company (EDAW) hired by the City to incorporate climate change elements in our General Plan. EDAW was very interested in the Task Force’s work, and they wanted to meet with the working groups, or minimally each working group Chair, to have a dialogue on each set of recommendations. They’re not expecting each WG to “present” their recommendations, but more to have a dialogue to learn which recommendations each WG feels should be in the General Plan vs. a Climate Action Plan (CAP). (EDAW is scheduled to deliver a CAP in May/June 2010.)
We discussed options for when such a meeting could take place, and based on the large number of WGs we all realized that there should probably be two meetings, with half the WGs on one evening and half on another evening. EDAW has provided 4 dates for consideration, in order to schedule 2 meetings.
ASAP (by end of today if possible), please let me know whether you’re available for an evening meeting (starting between 6pm and 7pm likely) on EACH of the following dates. I will compile the results, pass along to EDAW, and then let you know which 2 dates accommodate the most number of people.

I was very excited by EDAW’s interest in the Task Force and their desire to help have the recommendations not “sit on the shelf” but actually be included in the GP or CAP. The timing is working out quite well.
I look forward to your response ASAP.
Thanks.
Steve
