Team,
I uploaded the final report edited with the Water WG's billing text and Mark Gilkey's suggested edits. You can find it at the WG GoogleGroups Files Page under "Baseline Final Report - 07-31-2008.doc"
Here's what happens next. This report goes to the consulants, The Climate Group, who have agreed to review the Task Force report pro bono, and provide comments about content. On or before Fri. Aug. 22, we'll be getting the report back from them with comments, which I'll integrate. I may send out email and request comments from the WG, but we must have the comments integrated and ready to send the report to the copy editor on Mon. Aug. 25. The copy editor will then go through the entire report and generate camera-ready copy (in effect) which she will send back to the WG chairs on Sept. 4. The final document will be ready for Task Force review at that time. The Task Force will have a meeting on Sept 8 to discuss any final comments, and a final meeting on Sept. 15 to vote on the report. Ideally, the meeting on Sept 15 should be 20 minutes, just enough time to approve the report...after which the Task Force will likely adjorn to the Tide House for an
informal celebration (most of our meetings up to now have gone on too late for that). The City will also be hosting some kind of simple but formal celebration in October. The City Council is also planning a study session in early October to discuss the report.
And that's about it, except for the work of actually getting the report implemented by the city. It's likely that there will be some kind of ongoing work in this area by Task Force participants, possibly as an organized civic action group or through standing City committees such as the Environmental Planning Commission (which, despite its name, has little to do with the environment). We briefly discussed this last night at the Task Force meeting, and the Steering Commitee also voted to request that the Task Force continue in some official capacity after October, though it is not clear whether the city will agree to that.
