We often think of peace as the absence of war; that if the powerful
countries would reduce their arsenals, we could have peace. But if we
look deeply into the weapons, we see our own minds - our prejudices,
fears, and ignorance. Even if we transported all the bombs to the
moon, the roots of war and the reasons for bombs would still be here,
in our hearts and minds, and sooner or later we would make new bombs.
Seek to become more aware of what causes anger and separation, and
what overcomes them. Root out the violence in your life, and learn to
live compassionately and mindfully ~ thich nhat hanh

we begin with ourselves

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

may I be peaceful, happy, and light in body and spirit.
may I be safe and free from injury.
may I be free from anger, afflictions, fear, and anxiety.

may I learn to look at myself with the eyes of understanding and love.
may I be able to recognize and touch the seeds of joy and happiness in
myself
may I learn to identify and see the sources of anger, craving, and
delusion in myself.

may I know how to nourish the seeds of joy in myself every day.
may I be able to live fresh, solid, and free.
may I be free from attachment and aversion, but not be indifferent.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

then, we may like to practice sending loving kindness to someone we
love. after you’ve practiced this, practice sending loving kindness to
someone you like, then to someone neutral to you, and finally to
someone who you see as having made you suffer.

"If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can blossom like a flower,
and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our
peace. "

the first step of meditation is stopping, stopping the dispersion,
concentrating on one subject. The best subject, the most available
subject, is your breathing.

Stopping and seeing are very close. … Stop and look, that’s meditation
… Insight means you have a vision, and insight into reality.

Sit there, stop, be yourself first, and begin from there. That is the
meaning of meditation.

“Let peace begin with me.” That’s correct. And let me begin with
peace. That is also correct.
