Hi All,
It is with great regret that I send this email. Due to the recent flooding in the western district, In particular down the Yarriambiack Creek at Warracknabeal, the wipeout tournament for 2011 is being postponed.
The event was greatly received and was looking very promising with council, local business and community all very keen to be involved as well as many students interested and registered.
The event is not cancelled at this stage. The Wipeout committee will be working very hard to find a weekend that we will be able to run the event, however this may not be able to happen untill later in the year.
The creek and ski site have been inundated with water and although the council is working very hard to try and repair and clean up the area they will not be able to have it done in time. The water is also flowing very fast still and tree's are falling so it is not a safe area for us to be.
Instead on this weekend the committee will try and organise a trip away, we are inviting all universities to attend and bring there boats. Details of this trip have not been decided but as soon as we make plans we will send out another email.
Anyone who registered for the event will be 100% refunded however this may take some time as we have a lot of work ahead of us to postpone the event. Please be patient. If you have already registered please send an email to
auw...@gmail.com with the amount you paid, the date you paid it and your bank details.
Again we are very sorry about this but we cannot change the weather. Looking forward to seeing you all on the water soon and we all look forward to the Wipeout event in the future!!!
Cheers,
Flick
