Hi All,

I have been looking into the properties of this TPX film from Mitsui Chemicals and it seems well adapted for our printers.
Does anybody know if it has already been tested and if yes where somebody could buy it?

It has high transparency in UV (above 300nm) and in VIS spectra, high gas permeability (for O2 inhibition) and very low release energy (download pdf brochure here).

I will keep searching and if I find more I will let you know.

Cheers

We haven't tested this material, at first glance it looks a little foggy/translucent as well.

Looks to be quite affordable too. We'll see if we can get a sample to look at and test curing some resin on it.

from the description of it

Material is gloss / matte in 3 mil. and 5 mil.  The 10 mil. and 20 mil. is matte / matte.

it will not work as we want it to
the light refraction from the matte surface will not allow for detail at all

Hi,

Thanks for your replies.
I will also try to get some and test.
I have seen some people mentioning it in SLA/DLP fora but without really talking about the performance compared to FEP.

It seems that the release film is available in 100μm gloss finish (seen in pdf here, see asterisk) but I don't know if the resellers have it.

Anyway, if this film was really working for SLA it must have already been known in the SLA community, I guess.. :)

I am also lookoing for an FEP alternative, I would buy some TPX for tests if I find Europe reseller. As I know the Solus 3D printer use their own release film wich is not FEP... and the surface finish of the parts grown on this printer are amzing.

Hey, Hellenicopter,

I'm Tim. Very interested in the testing you've done with TPX film, How's it going?

Thanks,
Tim
