Windows 10 Disk Check is a fundamental tool that performs a quick fix on disk read/write errors and should be the initial step in resolving disk-related performance problems and errors listed in event logs. However, it is better used for general maintenance instead of repairing a known issue as it is impractical to run it on every computer in an organization.

Instead, many third-party programs allow an administrator to manage event logs, including the system event log and identify computers that need attention. Some of the more popular options are Manage Engine EventLog Analyzer, Sematext Logs, SolarWinds Log and Event Manager, Datadog Log Analysis and Logalyze.

Converting basic disks to dynamic disks can help achieve improved performance in your Windows OS. However, there are compatibility restrictions you should be aware of before diving into this conversion process.

I have created system image backups and the system repair disk using the Windows 7 tools still available on Windows 10. I understand there are newer options available, but the system image restores *everything*. There is a lot of time invested in loading apps etc. In case of a failure I restore the image and then restore files modified since the last image from robocopy or Carbonite backups.

The old Windows backups didn't really back up everything like a full disc image will do. For a backup or disc image restore its best to use a 3rd party program such as the free Macrium Reflect (what I and most of the techies I know use). Macrium will allow backing up the entire disc (all partitions) to a separate drive. Macrium also will allow creating a "rescue media", either a CD/DVD/Flash Drive that you can boot and use to restore (not sure may allow some Win 10 repair functions).

You can also create a Bootable Win 10 ISO (which will also allow repair options) using the Windows Media Creation Tool. The tenforums.com tutorial is linked here (its title is USB Flash Drive but the Media Creation Tool allows selecting the media you want to use).

on any other image not using UEFI i am able to use repair s disk on a VM with the new HDD on a docing station to restore the image by conventional means and ship them out to all my users that have older x250 laptops but when i try to restore an x260 image in this manner i am getting the error:

what i am trying to do in essence is find a way to restore my windows system image i have and restore is to a Brand new HDD mounted on a docking stations, i do not have direct access to the source machine but i have been tasked with finding if it is possible to restore a windows image to without a Repair disk. i am aware of other more efficient/ convenient methods of doing backup/restoration but i need to work with what i have and see if anyone has had success in a direct image

Be careful about licensing, here. Creating an image and restoring it to the exact same PC is fine, but creating a master image to be restored to other machines requires a VL for the Windows OS and the image needs to be created with that VL media and key.

all previous models (x250 and before) i was able to set up a virtual machine and with a new physical HDD attached and restore the image with a repair disk and ship the disk to the user to insert and be on their way after i remote in to update drivers, but now im getting multiple errors when trying to restore x260 images due to the device using EFI.
