I'm definitely happy taking patches dropped onto the mailing list, particularly when the contents are non-functional changes. Bugfixes should probably have an issue filed along with them at the googlecode site. I'll verify that it's possible for non-project members to create an issue.

I'm going to spend some time creating a wiki page on steps for contributing, hopefully later today. 

Basically I'll try to accommodate contributors as much as possible, so whatever works for you, and any and all help is greatly appreciated.
