MH chess - update

Hi all,

Given that we’ve had several new players coming along to the club, we intend to set up an additional all play all group alongside the club championships, from March-May. If you’re not already playing in the club champs and would be interested in some scheduled slow games in that time period, let Simon B or me know by 23 Feb at the latest.

You will need to be a club member to play (as with the main championship), so if you haven’t paid subs yet please speak with Amar.

I’d also encourage anyone playing in club or league competitions to join the English Chess Federation. This will allow games to be rated and go towards you getting a national rating. Bronze membership is fine, but if you’re also considering playing other competitions, eg Adam Raoof’s excellent series of tournaments, I recommend Silver level.

Please keep championship results coming in to Simon B and I appreciate that several games are having to be rearranged due to diary clashes, but let’s try to get as many games played as possible by mid May.

Update on the Middlesex league: the 1st team lost narrowly against reigning champions Hendon 1 this week, but retain their position at the top of Div 1. The 2nd team are sitting nicely in 3rd place in Div 3, with some promotion prospects - top 2 teams get promoted.
