Dear All,

Since we seem to be moving along nicely... I would like to start a
thread to talk about chapter assignments.

So far, here is where we stand

Chapters 1-3 (Basic Acoustics, Duration, Pitch) are being covered by
me (Tohm)
Chapter 4 (newly titled Dynamics) has been offered to be done by
Albert

Evan, would you like to put something together regarding melodic form?

Who would like to pick another Chapter?

I think the best way to proceed would be in small chapters... to
choose a chapter, sign on to the wiki and place your name next to the
chapter you wish to work on (in the chapters section, not the TOC). I
think the chapters should also be divided out, for example, the voice
leading chapter should be handled by 3 different people for the 3
different sections.

So, who would like a chapter to dig into? I think The Color/Timbre
chapter should be next to go

Also, please feel free to edit/change anything you find in the TOC and
start making chapter pages (or even appendix pages for that matter).
Even if we don't have a place in the TOC for it right now... We will
be sure to included everything as this project evolves.

Of course, everything I have said here is open to discussion as
well :)

Cheers,
Tohm

Would you feel comfortable working on a draft for "Color" Chapter
(range, timbre, register, anything else you can think of)?

Im so pleased with how things are moving along.

Regarding the collab suggestion, I work at Box.net, and based on my
experience with Zoho, I would advise against it. The best
collaboration writing tool Ive found so far is google docs.

However, I think the assignment based approach is the best. When each
person uploads a chapter to Box.net (as a word doc), if someone has
revisions, upload it with comments and box will store each version of
the file. Or use the wiki or webdocs in box.net to leave notes for the
author (probably the best idea)
