I know that our Ulema (scholars) support home education in favour of
school education, so I decided to look for official statements. I was
browsing through www.sunnipath.com and found one question and answer
which supported home schooling and described state education as
"undesirable, not haram."

I then found another question and answer by Mufti Muhammad ibn Adam
al-Kawthari (of Leicester)
http://qa.sunnipath.com/issue_view.asp?HD=1&ID=1835&CATE=95
It's heading is "Rights of the Child With Regards to Religious
Learning" but is applicable to all types of education as it very
clearly explains the "fundamental rights of a child".
I found the article to be a great incentive for me as a Muslim parent
who prefers to protect his children, by teaching them at home.
