Scott Joplin, who is interred at St. Michael's Cemetery in NY (see <http://www.stmichaelscemetery.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/04/2011joplin.pdf> ), is celebrated each May with a free, outdoor concert at the cemetery. This year's concert, May 14, 2 p.m., will feature Dan Levinson's six-piece Canary Cottage Dance Orchestra, an ensemble that specializes in music of the ragtime years, and the Victrolian Vaudeville Barbershop Quartet. Among the selections performed by the quartet will be Joplin's first publication, the song "Please Say You Will" (1895). Though the song was published originally for single voice and piano, Joplin had performed it with his own Texas Medley Quartette. This year's performance will recreate what Joplin had envisioned and will be the song's first quartet rendition in 116 years.

At 1:15, if the chapel is available prior to the concert, I will give a PowerPoint presentation on Joplin.
