The Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) is currently accepting expressions of interest for the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship 2023–24 scheme. Aimed at early career researchers, these three-year fellowships are designed to build experience and independence in research and teaching so as to integrate fellows into their field. The RNCM is particularly interested in projects focusing on artificial intelligence, digital media, and sound heritage (in combination or separately) as they apply to any field of music and the interrelated arts, but applications that fall within the institution’s wider research remit (including music psychology and music education) will also be considered. The national deadline for applications is 4 October at 17:00BST.

If you would like to apply through the RNCM, please first read closely the scheme notes. Those who satisfy the eligibility criteria are invited to send an expression of interest to research -at- rncm.ac.uk by 11 August 2023 at 12:00BST. Expressions of interest should include the following:
• an academic CV (max. 2 pages)
• a summary of past and current research (max. 2 pages)
• a draft research proposal (max. 3 pages) addressing the following:
-- detailed description of proposed research
-- indicative outputs
-- outreach/dissemination plans
-- fellowship timeline
• nominated mentor

The Research Team will consider expressions of interest by 18 August, and successful applicants will be invited shortly thereafter to progress to full submission to the British Academy.

For any questions, please contact the Research Team at research -at- rncm.ac.uk
