The School of Music at the University of Alabama invites applications for a position at the rank of Instructor. A Ph.D. in historical musicology is preferred by time of appointment (ABD considered); college teaching experience required. We seek a creative and collegial musicologist with scholarly interests in any area of music history. Primary duties will include the teaching of a wide range of courses in music history at the undergraduate level and a graduate history review; general education in world music is a substantial component of this position. Duties also include serving on graduate student advisory committees as well as School of Music and University committees, directing theses and other research projects when appropriate. This contract is renewable annually with an initial term of three years. The position carries the standard University of Alabama benefits package.
