The Department of Music at the University of Pennsylvania seeks to appoint a tenure track assistant professor specializing in Korean music, to begin 1 July 2024. We seek a colleague who will engage broadly with Korean humanities and encourage applications from scholars with strong interdisciplinary orientations who engage multiple sub-disciplines within music studies. We seek candidates with proven classroom experience; teaching responsibilities will include core and specialized undergraduate and graduate courses. Candidates should have completed the Ph.D. by 1 July 2024.

Qualifications include:

● Broad training in Korean humanities and Korean music
● Strong research potential
● Capacity for teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels and mentoring and supporting a diverse student body
● The ability to direct graduate/undergraduate research
● Candidates are expected to have a PhD by the time of appointment, which is 1 July, 2024
● The successful candidate will be expected to contribute actively to the James Joo-Jin Kim Center for Korean Studies
